My Secret to Pearly White Teeth

Good Morning Queens,

It's no secret that my teeth are pretty wonderful. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but I always get compliments on how white and healthy my teeth look. And if you know me personally, you understand just how important the appearance of teeth and the smell of breath is to me. You don't have to have perfect teeth in order to take good care of them, but you do need to treat them with care if you want your smile to sparkle.

Tip #1 Brush and Floss Daily

I know you've probably been told to do this since your very first dentist appointment, but BOTH of these steps are extremely important for the health of your teeth and breath. You should be brushing twice a day, but if you happen to forget at night sometimes, make sure you are spending more time in the morning really getting into those tough spots. Brushing your tongue is a MUST! Most of the odor from food settles on your tongue, so make sure you are thoroughly removing plaque and bad breath germs. Flossing helps with gum health and also with breath because trapped food can cause odor. Make sure you are also flossing behind your last molars at the top and bottom. Food and other yucky things like to settle in that area. In addition, I suggest using an electronic toothbrush because they deep clean better than the manual ones. If you can't afford the super fancy electronic toothbrushes, shoot for cheaper options like the Equate brand at Walmart (about $5) or some Oral-B brushes that are in the $30-$50 range.

Tip #2 Use a Whitening Toothpaste

For white teeth, invest in a whitening toothpaste that is safe for the enamel on your teeth. You don't want to use something too harsh and ruin the enamel on your teeth. Enamel is the shiny surface on your teeth and when you ruin it, your teeth will become dull and never be able to be restored. I use Colgate Optic White and it works wonders! It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it. I believe it retails for about $4 and the tube is pretty small. It normally only lasts me 3 weeks to a month.

Tip #3 Use Mouthwash Twice a Day

Another step to my healthy teeth and mouth regimen is using a mouthwash that makes my breath fresh and wipes away the plaque and food particles that might have been missed after brushing and flossing. My dentist recommended Listerine Total Care because my teeth are prone to cavities. Total Care is a 6 in 1 benefit product as well. It helps prevent cavities, restores enamel, strengthens teeth, kills bad breath germs, cleans the whole mouth, and freshens breath. Listerine's taste might be too strong for some people, but don't you worry, they also offer a zero alcohol formula! The cost is between $4-$6 and lasts about two months.

Tip #4 Use a Whitening Mouthwash at Least Once a Week

The last step I do to achieve my pearly whites is using a whitening mouthwash. I used to use it everyday before I implemented the Listerine Total Care, but now I use it once or twice per week for an added boost. You don't have to pick the most expensive brand because let's be real, it can get costly. I use the Equate brand and it works just fine! The cost is about $4 compared to about $6 for the named brand ones. I think Equate discontinued their Pre-Brush Rinse, but now they offer a Whiten and Restore mouthwash that works just as well.

I hope these tips helped! Happy brushing :) If you have any questions, feel free to comment on this post!
